The Montessori Method Seminar
Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. Montessori is an education for independence. It provides children with environment, materials and guidance to learn to do and think for themselves. It views children as born learners who are capable and willing to teach themselves when provided with the right stimulus. In Montessori classroom, children make creative choices in the learning, while the classroom and the highly trained teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process.
The Integration of Montessori’s Methods of Education
A very significant improvement that happened this school year is about enhancing more of our classroom
instruction integrating the Montessori Method of Education. The administration invited a resource speaker from a prominent school, University of San Carlos, to train our teachers during our in-service training program for teachers in the Basic Education Department for School Year 2023-2024. This happened last July 22, 2023 in CMIC Fine Dining.
The Certificate of Appreciation
We were so blessed to have the precious time of Miss Russell Del Soccoro, the school principal of University of San Carlos Montessori Academy, to be with us despite her hectic schedule, just to share her knowledge and expertise in training our teachers how Montessori Method has to be done.
The Integration of the Method Taught in the Basic Education Department
This was participated by the faculty not only the teachers from the Nursery to Grade 6 but also the teachers in the Junior and Senior High School Department. The learnings from the seminar will be used in
integrating in the day-today lesson of the learners. Teachers have to prepare the environment and the
manipulatives needed for the subject to be taught. This helps promote better learning among the pupils
and students of Cebu Mary Immaculate College Inc.
The Cebu Mary Immaculate College Inc. is forever thankful for this collaboration. We we’re able to learn
new approaches, methods, learnings and improve our instruction.
